Hi friend, I'm Heather (they/them)
about
heather
I love soft light and road trips and dipping my toes in rivers. I love fresh bread and long meandering walks and fields of wildflowers. I would always choose a long conversation with a friend over a party and I am really passionate about wool sweaters.
I photograph elopements and
small, intentional weddings in Sea to Sky, Vancouver Island, and across Western Canada on film and digital with a playful, gentle documentary approach.
I want you to know that I see you, I hear you, and all love is welcome here.

about me:
I love hiking and am a big fan of dilly dallying - picking wildflowers and inspecting the lichens and smelling everything and snacks with views are the best part.
I love thrifting and antique shops. I'm always on the hunt for old wool sweaters that look like someone's nan knit them, fun mugs, and I have an excellent collection of quirky lamps.
Creativity and time in nature are two of the most important sources of energy for me.
I discovered rock climbing when I turned 30 and it's been my deepest and truest love ever since.
I have always loved to travel. Some of my favourite memories so far include winter surfing in Ireland, hiking in the Canary Islands, and trying to write a novel in Paris.
my approach:

ease
It's important to me to give you an experience you will love. So many inquiries come my way from folks who are nervous or camera-shy, and it fills my heart to create a safe space where you can feel at ease: comfortable to be yourselves, to be present, to be seen for who you truly are.

honesty
honest, candid photos are at the very heart of what I do. I document with a very candid approach so that you can remain truly present on your wedding day. I will capture the day as it naturally unfolds without posing or fabricating moments. I will occasionally direct when needed, to keep you feeling comfortable, but this will facilitate connection rather than interrupting it.

connection
because connection is why we're all here. My work pays close attention to connection - between the two of you, your friends and family, between you and your environment - because I think connection is one of the most artful and poetic aspects of being human.
